The House of Representatives passed the Deficit Reduction Act (DRA) yesterday by a vote of 216 - 
214. The measure will now go to the President to sign. It is expected that he will sign it any time in the next couple days. This new law will drastically change the way seniors plan for long-term care.
In a 51-50 vote, with Vice President Cheney casting the tie-breaking vote, the U. S. Senate passed the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 ("DRA"). The legislation now goes back to the House for another vote due to the fact that the Senate and House versions of the bill have some differences. It is unknown when the House will reconvene to vote again on the measure. One thing we do know,
The U. S. Congress will soon do battle over the House and Senate versions of the budget deficit reduction packages. Of particular interest to our clients are the proposed Medicaid cuts effecting seniors.
